Dr. Bucshon Announces Winner of 2024 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition

EVANSVILLE – U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN-08) announced Jaylee Farrar, a student at Vincennes Lincoln High School, as the 2024 winner of the Eighth District Congressional Art Competition.  This competition is part of a nationwide visual art competition to recognize the artistic endeavors of high school students. The winning piece of artwork was chosen out of the more than 80 submissions from across Indiana’s Eighth Congressional District.  The winning submission was announced on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at a reception for this year’s participants – where each submission was exhibited – that was held at the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. 

“The annual Congressional Art Competition is a great way to showcase the unique artistic talents of high school students across Indiana’s Eighth District. Each year, I have the pleasure of hosting this competition to help encourage and advance Hoosiers’ artistic endeavors with the chance of having their artwork displayed in Washington, DC. Congratulations to Jaylee Farrar for submitting this year’s winning piece of artwork” said Dr. Bucshon.

The 2024 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition winner is Jaylee Farrar, with her piece titled “IKE”. Jaylee, a student at Vincennes Lincoln High School, will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C. to attend the Congressional Art Competition Reception and will have her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year.

Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. represents Indiana’s 8th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives and is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
