Congressman Larry Bucshon Announces U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure Listening Session in Indianapolis
(Washington, D.C.)– Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) is honored to announce a listening session of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure with Chairman John Mica (FL-07) in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, February 19, 2011.
Chairman Mica and Congressman Bucshon will be joined by Members of the Committee and Indiana Delegation and are hosted by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and the Indianapolis Department of Public Works. Congressman Bucshon is the only member of the Indiana Delegation on the Committee.
The meeting with state and local officials and transportation stakeholders will help inform the Committee’s drafting of a long-term reauthorization of the nation’s highway, transit, and highway safety programs. The legislation will help improve our transportation infrastructure and promote job creation in the nation’s hard-hit construction industry.
Congressman Bucshon states:
“I welcome the Chairman to Indiana to listen to the innovative ways that Hoosiers have improved our infrastructure by spending taxpayers’ money more efficiently. This is a chance for Hoosiers to be heard and offer advice on ways to best improve transportation and our nation’s infrastructure as well as create jobs.”
Chairman Mica states:
“The best ideas to improve and streamline government programs often come from outside of Washington, and before we draft any legislation these meetings will provide the Committee with valuable insight and information.”
