U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-IN) said issues related to hydropower are “not going to change in a substantial way” unless Congress sets “hard deadlines.” Bucshon previously introduced the Promoting Hydropower Development At Existing Non Powered Dams Act, H.R. 2872. Under the House-approved bill, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) would be directed to issue a rule expediting licensing for qualifying hydropower facilities.
