Congressman Larry Bucshon Comments on the February Jobless Rate

Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) released the following comment on the February jobless rate.  The rate remained at 8.3 percent.

Congressman Bucshon (IN-08) states:

“There are positive signs for the economy as more than 200,000 jobs were created last month, yet it is still disheartening for many Americans that continue to see firsthand the negative effects of this slow recovery as we have another month of unemployment over 8 percent.  The President’s policies have failed, saddled our children with more debt, and prolonged the recovery efforts.

Instead of personally lobbying the Senate against the Keystone XL pipeline, the President could have created 20,000 more jobs immediately by approving the project.  We need leadership and the House Republicans have provided it by passing numerous bills, including the bipartisan JOBS Act, to create an environment where the private sector can create jobs.”

Background:

On Wednesday, February 29th, Congressman Bucshon spoke on the floor of U.S. House of Representatives about a constituent’s inability to create jobs due to excessive EPA regulations.  The video can be viewed here.

The unemployment rate has been over 8 percent for 37 consecutive months beginning in February 2009.
