(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement in response to President Trump’s compromise proposal to secure the border, grant temporary legal status to DACA and Temporary Protected Status individuals, and end the partial government shutdown:

“President Trump has put a serious offer on the table that will end the partial government shutdown and secure our border.  This demonstrates that President Trump is willing to compromise with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Schumer – advancing policy proposals sought by both Republicans and Democrats – in order to get much needed funding for border security and to reopen the parts of the federal government that are now closed.  It’s now up to Speaker Pelosi, Senator Schumer, and Congressional Democrats to decide whether they want to work together with President Trump and Republicans in Congress to advance this commonsense proposal that will end the partial government shutdown, or reject it and ensure that the government remains shutdown.”
