President Trump delivered his State of the Union Address.

The speech was delayed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi who cited security concerns during the shutdown.

The State of the Union was unique because many feel the State of the Union is turbulent.

The government is only temporarily open again, and we could face another shutdown in just days.

President Trump delivered his speech to a divided Congress - a Republican Senate and a Democratic House.

“Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions...”

Stacey Abrams, who lost a contested gubernatorial race in Georgia, delivered the response for Democrats.

“The shutdown was a stunt engineered by the President of the United States, one that defied every tenet of fairness and abandoned not just our people, but our values.”

Now, Congress will have to work out a funding deal by February 15, 2019 to avoid another shutdown.

Indiana Senator Todd Young has released a video statement, regarding the president's State of the Union. Young says the president delivered a powerful, unifying message to the nation.

Indiana Congressman Larry Bucshon has also released a video statement, commending President's Trump's State of the Union Address. Congressman Bucshon also says that we, as a nation, must come together and focus on the future.

"We must come together as a nation and close the divides in our society. In Congress, Democrats and Republicans must put aside the hostility and come together to pass commonsense solutions that President Trump can sign."

Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie has also released a statement, saying he's looking forward to working with his colleagues to address the president's priorities. His full statement can be found below:

“Tonight we heard President Trump call for unity among Republicans and Democrats to address the many issues facing our great nation. From lowering prescription drug prices, to investing in our nation’s infrastructure, to reforming our broken immigration system, there is plenty of common ground for us to work together and improve the lives of all Americans. I look forward to hitting the ground running with my colleagues to address the priorities President Trump set tonight.” 

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also released a video statement, saying boasts about the president’s speech, talking about the robust economy tax cut, low unemployment numbers, but says there are still issues, for example, the southern border and the border wall funding.

President Donald Trump is preparing to give his second State of the Union Address. He spent most of the day Monday behind closed doors.

Looking to get the administration back on track after a costly government shutdown, aides say President Trump will try something different in Tuesday night’s State of the Union speech – appeal for bipartisanship.

Trump's speech will focus on healthcare, eradicating aids, and lowering prescription drug costs, infrastructure, and immigration reform. He will also call for unity in his State of the Union Address.
