Dr. Bucshon Supports Trump Administration’s Repeal of Obama’s Waters of the United States Rule
Washington,
September 12, 2019
“Under the Obama Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency attempted to expand the federal government’s jurisdiction to control practically any body of water, whether it be local streams, drainage ditches, wetlands, or agricultural ponds – including those on private land. The Obama Administration’s rule would have been a massive expansion of the federal government’s power at the expense of state and local control, as well as a massive erosion of personal property rights. “States, not the federal government, should be the primary regulators of waterways and water sources within their borders. I applaud the Trump Administration for understanding the importance local water plays in the lives of Hoosier farmers, manufacturers, the coal industry, and land owners in repealing this harmful rule.”
