September 19, 2012
(Evansville, IN) – Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) announced the Evansville Regional Airport as a recipient of a Department of Transportation (DOT) discretionary grant to improve runway safety. The grant is valued at $11,107,830. Congressman Bucshon (IN-08) states: “Improving runway infrastructure at the Evansville Regional Airport is an important project that will support the growth of passenger travel and economic development in the tri-state. I am pleased to announce this discretionary grant and look forward to reviewing the progress at EVV.” Douglas Joest, Evansville Regional Airport Manager, states: “We are excited to receive this additional grant from the Department of Transportation. Congressman Bucshon is a leader for Indiana when it comes to transportation issues and we are lucky to have him as the only Hoosier serving on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. These funds, coupled with the funding received last year, enable EVV to remain on schedule in completing the Runway Safety Area Project. It should be noted that these federal dollars coming into our community are providing numerous construction jobs over a three year period.” Background: Congressman Bucshon is the only Hoosier in the U.S. House of Representatives to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. H.R. 658, the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, a 4 year reauthorization, was signed by the President and became public law on 2-14-12. ### |
