(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement praising President Trump’s executive order to expand telehealth services to expand telehealth access for millions of Americans living in rural communities “This executive order is a tremendous step forward to providing increased care for Hoosiers and all Americans that live in rural areas of the nation. As a physician, I am constantly striving to ensure my constituents in Southwest and West Central, Indiana have the greatest access to care possible. With the technology available today, Americans should not be unable to access basic health care services simply because of their rural location or inability to come into a health care provider’s office. Congress and the Administration acted quickly to temporarily remove unnecessary barriers to telehealth services at the onset of the COVID-19, drastically improving access to care. Making some of these enhancements permanent will expand telehealth capabilities, meaning that lack of transportation and limited health care workers will no longer be a barrier to accessing innovative, life-saving care.” Background |
