Congressman Larry Bucshon Congratulates Princeton, IN for being named Stellar Community

(Evansville, IN) – Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) released the following comment congratulating Princeton, IN for being named a 2012 Stellar Community by Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.

Congressman Bucshon (IN-08) states:

            “I would like to congratulate Princeton, Indiana and Mayor Bob Hurst for being named a Stellar Community in Indiana.  This recognition by the Lt. Governor’s office proves the commitment that the city of Princeton is making for the future.  Their perseverance to reapply after coming close last year shows the community’s dedication to investing in its people, businesses, and future.”

Background:

Princeton, IN was joined by Delphi, IN as the other recipient in 2012.

Stellar Communities, started in 2011, is a collaboration between INDOT, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and the State Revolving Fund to help fund communities’ strategic plans.

According to the Lt. Governor’s office, the City of Princeton’s main goals are:

  • Bicentennial Plaza
    • Project will provide connectivity with civic events
  • Downtown Streetscapes
    • New sidewalks, curbs, landscaping, lighting, signage, and gateways
  • Senior Housing Cottages
    • New project giving senior citizens easy access to downtown
  • Princeton Theatre
    • The historic theatre will be transformed into a live performing arts venue
  • Historic rehabilitation
    • Project will restore the facades of nearly all the buildings on the historic Courthouse Square
  • Downtown Loft Housing
    • Second and third story lofts will be constructed in the historic Courthouse Square buildings for income qualifying residents
