Dr. Bucshon’s Statement on House Democrats’ Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Resolution

(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after voting against the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Resolution (H. Con. Res. 11):

“The Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats promised unity and bipartisanship on the campaign trail; yet, less than a month into being sworn in as President, Biden has decided to cut Republicans out of COVID relief talks entirely, moving forward with a budget resolution that does nothing more than to set the stage for Congressional Democrats to jam through a far-left partisan wish list of policy priorities ostensibly in the name of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The previous administration worked tirelessly with Congress to pass five bipartisan COVID relief packages to address the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide the help the American people so desperately needed.  COVID-19 doesn’t distinguish between Republicans and Democrats and ensuring that Congress provides every tool needed to successfully and quickly bring the pandemic to and end is something that both sides of the aisle support.  Republicans in Congress stand ready to work with Congressional Democrats and the Biden Administration to pass additional COVID-19 legislation.  However, now that Congressional Democrats have complete control of the Senate, the House, and the White House, they have decided to throw bipartisanship aside and take a, my way or the highway, approach to governing. I am disheartened at this partisan approach and the missed opportunity to come together for the American people.”
