New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Must be Investigated and Held Accountable for NY Nursing Home COVID-19 Deaths

(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement following the breaking story that New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, lied about and tried to cover up COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes in New York:

“As a physician and an elected official, I am appalled at the callousness New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has shown towards human life in order to protect himself politically from the consequences of his decision to direct nursing homes in New York to accept COVID-19 positive patients.  This decision led to deadly outbreaks of COVID-19 amongst nursing home residents, and instead of accepting responsibility for his actions, Governor Cuomo worked to protect himself politically and avoid being held accountable by covering up the true extent of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes in the State of New York.  We owe it to our constituents to be transparent, open, and forthcoming with information regardless of the data. I join many elected officials on both sides of the political aisle calling for a Department of Justice criminal investigation.”
