NEWBURGH, Ind. – Yesterday, Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.) released the following video highlighting his Promoting Hydropower Development at Existing Nonpowered Dams Act in honor of National Clean Energy Week. This bill was signed into law in 2018 and is working to modernize nonpowered dams by equipping them to generate hydropower.
“In the 115th Congress, I authored the Promoting Hydropower Development at Existing Nonpowered Dams Act which was signed into law by President Trump to modernize existing nonpowered dams by equipping them to generate hydropower. Unnecessary government red tape had prevented states like Indiana from taking advantage of clean, renewable hydropower generation at existing non-powered dams,” said Congressman Bucshon.
“Less than a year after the law was enacted, more than 55 existing nonpowered dams began the process of shifting to producing hydropower. This conservative approach to energy uses existing infrastructure to create clean, American-made energy. I am proud to have worked on this law to help facilitate hydropower across Indiana and across the United States,” Congressman Bucshon continued.
