Bucshon Statement on the Continuing Resolution and Debt Ceiling Package

WASHINGTON – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.) released the following statement on the Continuing Resolution and debt ceiling package after voting against the legislation today on the House Floor. This partisan bill was passed on a party-line vote of 220-211.
“Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have, yet again, failed to do their job. By offering this Continuing Resolution to temporarily fund the government and raise the debt ceiling, Congressional Democrats are asking for a blank check to continue their reckless spending spree that will add to the record high inflation rates, raise taxes, and expand the federal government’s role in Hoosiers’ everyday lives.
“Not only does Speaker Pelosi threaten to cripple future generations with mountains of debt with this legislation, she is also turning her back on one of our greatest allies, Israel, by blocking $1 billion in funding for the Iron Dome. This is an unacceptable way to treat our allies and I will always stand with Israel.
“Instead of coming to the table to discuss targeted and meaningful solutions to rein in our government spending and support our allies, Washington Democrats are attempting to put a band-aid fix on their spending problem that will lead to the federal government falling further into debt,” said Congressman Bucshon. |
