WASHINGTON  – U.S. Congressman Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.-08) issued the following statement in response to President Biden's decision to release 50 million barrels of crude oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

“President Biden’s decision to release approximately three days worth of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is nothing more than an attempt to distract Americans from the disastrous impacts of his energy policies because it ultimately will do nothing to control runaway domestic gas prices. Under the Biden Administration’s leadership, Hoosiers are paying nearly 70 percent more to fill up their gas tank than they were last year and it is crippling family budgets.

“Not only have the policies supported by President Biden and Washington Democrats decimated American energy production and jobs, they also threaten our nation’s ability to be energy independent. The key to lowering gas prices at the pump is to return to energy policies that allow for greater production of American-made energy. We must bring back the era of American energy dominance,” said Congressman Bucshon.
