ICYMI: The Latest ObamaCare News

Surprise! White House To Delay 'Firm' ObamaCare Enrollment Deadline Past March 31 - "Though the Obama administration repeatedly insisted that its March 31 enrollment deadline for ObamaCare’s first year was “firm,” many observers predicted that the administration would combat lagging sales of health law-sponsored insurance plans by extending that deadline. Sure enough, on Tuesday night the White House indicated that it would be postponing that drop date in order to squeeze as many people as possible into the program." (Forbes; 3/25/14)

Another ObamaCare Delay, If you like your plan, you can keep it—until 2016 – “The Obama administration said Wednesday that insurers can wait until 2016 before canceling plans that don't comply with ObamaCare. The administration released a host of final regulations that, among other things, ease reporting requirements for businesses and allow insurers to keep selling individual policies that don't meet the law's requirements. Those plans, which the White House first uncanceled in November, can now last until 2016 or, in some cases, 2017.” (National Journal; 3/5/14)

Remember this?

Kathleen Sebelius: No more ObamaCare delays - "HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Wednesday that there would be no delay of ObamaCare’s individual mandate, the penalty for violating it or the March 31 closing date of the enrollment period, the strongest statement yet that the administration has no plans for more major changes to the law in the final weeks of the first sign-up period. Asked by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) at a House hearing whether the administration would change its policy for enforcing the individual mandate after all the other delays, extensions and adjustments it has made to different provisions in the law, Sebelius bluntly replied, 'No, sir.'" And this?

HHS: We Lack 'Statutory Authority' to Extend Deadline to Sign Up for ObamaCare – “On a conference call with reporters Tuesday afternoon, officials at the Department of Health and Human Services insisted that March 31 is the firm deadline to sign up for ObamaCare.  ‘We have no plans to extend the open enrollment period,’ HHS official Julie Bataille said. ‘In fact, we don't actually have the statutory authority to extend the open enrollment period in 2014.’” (Weekly Standard; 3/11/14)
