Dr. Bucshon Announces Winner of 2022 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition

EVANSVILLE – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) announced the 2022 winners of the Eighth District Congressional Art Competition, which is part of a nationwide visual art competition to recognize the artistic endeavors of high school students. These pieces were chosen among 89 submissions across Indiana’s Eighth District.  

“Each year, I look forward to receiving artwork from dozens of creative and skilled high school students all across Southwest and West Central Indiana for the Eighth District Congressional Art Competition. Congratulations to this year’s overall winner, Nicole Armeanu and this year’s People’s Choice Award winner, Arwyn Hammonds,” said Dr. Bucshon.

The 2022 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition First Place Overall winner is Nicole Armeanu, with her acrylic painting on canvas titled “The Book”.  Nicole, a senior at Signature School, will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C. for the Congressional Art Competition Reception and will have her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year.

 

People’s Choice Award

“Sunset on the Western Expanse” by Arwyn Hammonds 

The 2022 Eighth District People’s Choice Award winner, the piece that garnered the most support on Dr. Bucshon’s social media pages, is Arwyn Hammonds, with her digital art drawn on an Ipad titled: “Sunset on the Western Expanse”.  Arwyn is a senior and is homeschooled. She had nearly 200 likes on Congressman Bucshon’s official Facebook page for her submission.
