PHOTOS: Bucshon Visits CDC to Discuss Public Health Preparedness, Vaccines, and Opioids

WASHINGTON – On Monday, U.S. Congressman Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.-08) visited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Headquarters in Atlanta to discuss public health preparedness, vaccines, and opioid related issues. At the event, Dr. Bucshon and a bipartisan group of members toured their labs and met with Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and other CDC leadership.

“The CDC has faced significant challenges in the last few years, causing it to lose the trust and respect of many Americans. It is critical that we work together to reinvigorate and reform the CDC, to help return it to its core mission of protecting public health rather than promoting views based on politics. I am pleased that I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Walensky and others to learn more about the current priorities and projects of this vital agency so it continues to drive public health and disease control,” said Dr. Bucshon.
