WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) released the following statement after voting to block the Biden Administration from adding 87,000 new agents to the IRS, by rescinding over $71 billion in funding for the agency. The Family and Small Business Protection Act is the first bill that House Republicans have advanced since taking the majority in the 118th Congress.
“Today, I joined my fellow Republican colleagues in blocking the Biden Administration from adding 87,000 new agents to the IRS. This agency has long been used as a political tool by Congressional Democrats, such as with upcoming plans to spy on Americans’ bank accounts. If allowed to continue, American families and small businesses would feel the brunt of these new agents’ enforcement activities. I am proud that House Republicans first act in the 118thCongress is to hold our government accountable by passing the Family and Small Business Protection Act to ensure that our government works for Americans, instead of targeting them,” said Dr. Bucshon. |
