Bucshon Applauds Passage of Bill to Stop Selling SPR Reserves to China

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, voted to pass the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, which will prevent the Department of Energy from selling more petroleum from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to China, which now has the largest crude oil reserve in the world.

“Under the Biden administration, we have seen a continuous assault on American energy that has killed jobs, increased our dependency on foreign energy sources, and caused energy costs to soar. In an attempt to lower energy prices, the Administration has sold millions of barrels of petroleum from our strategic reserve, depleting our own supply and helping China to build the world’s largest crude oil reserve. This must stop,” said Dr. Bucshon on the House Floor.
