Let's Talk About Helping Children

Terre Haute - Every child deserves a champion an adult who will never give up on them."  That's the first line from a quote on the CASA Community webpage.  CASA is an organization that fights for children in the juvenile court system.  And tonight members of casa Held an important informational meeting.

They called it CASA Community Day - Let's 's Talk.   Local CASA's from Vigo and surrounding counties met with lawmakers.  The political leaders learned about CASA's needs and how the organization helps children.

"Last year we served over a thousand 33 children, said Glenna Cheesman, director of Vigo County CASA.  And they need to see and be able to talk to us and understand what we're going through what we're dealing with what the children of community are going through and why there's a need for it."

Several of the politicians in attendance included Congressman Larry Bucshon, Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt, State Rep. Alan Morrison and County Council President Bill Thomas.

CASA's website says over 16 thousand children have been helped by CASA volunteers.
