Dr. Bucshon Praises Trump Administration’s Efforts to Promote Health Care Cost Transparency
Washington,
April 25, 2018
Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the draft Fiscal Year 2019 Inpatient Prospective Payment System rule requiring hospitals to publish a list of their standard charges online: “As a physician focused on bringing down the cost of health care for Hoosiers, I am pleased to see the Trump Administration has taken a small step forward in promoting greater health care price transparency. Not only are deductibles and out-of-pocket costs for health care continuing to rise at an alarming rate, but so is the overall cost of health care. The only way we are ultimately going to address the high cost of health care – while still providing high-quality, patient-centered care – is to promote greater market competition by empowering patients to shop around to find quality care at a price they can afford.” |
