Dr. Bucshon Votes to Cancel Almost $15 Billion in Unspent Government Funds

(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after voting in support of the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act (H.R. 3):

“With a national debt in excess of $21 trillion, and mandatory government programs projected to increase year after year, we must use all tools at our disposal to address Washington’s out of control spending problem. I applaud President Trump for using one of those tools – which has been used by both political parties to rescind nearly $76 billion since the enactment of the Congressional Budget Act in 1974 – and submitting a proposal to cancel nearly $15 billion in unspent funds. While this amount pales in comparison to the size of our nation’s fiscal challenge, this is a step in the right direction in fulfilling the promise made to the American people by President Trump and Congressional Republicans to curb and reverse out of control spending.”
