Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) voted today in favor of the largest single cut in spending since World War II and also, in a separate vote, to fully defund the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare).

Congressman Bucshon States:

             “Cutting over $315 billion from the budget baseline over the next decade is just the first step in controlling spending and returning America to financial stability.  This year, I have voted to reduce spending by $78.5 billion from what President Obama proposed for Fiscal Year 2011. The next step is for this Congress to pass a budget that responsibly and effectively controls our growing deficit problem. That is why I will be voting for Chairman Paul Ryan’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2012 tomorrow to reduce spending another $6.2 trillion over the next decade. The American people have said they wanted us to change the conversation away from more spending and that is what we did.  They demanded that we put an end to Washington, D.C.’s out-of-control spending binge and that is what we have done.  Specifically, the American people wanted us to cut spending and that is what we are continuing to do.

                I ran my campaign by listening to Hoosiers across the 8th District.  You all told me to come to Washington, D.C. and put an end to politics of the past.  I ran on commonsense Hoosier values and that is why I was disappointed to see the Democratic leadership in the Senate deny the will of the American people for a second time this year and vote to keep ObamaCare.”
