Dr. Bucshon Attends House Healthcare Agenda Rollout

On Wednesday, Eighth District Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. joined House Republican leaders to unveil a plan to replace ObamaCare. The plan, A Better Way to Fix Healthcare, is a part of the House’s bold vision for the future of the country that ensures every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare.

“There’s no question ObamaCare is the wrong prescription for what ails America’s healthcare system. Over 30 million Americans are still without health insurance, out-of-pocket costs are on the rise, patient choice has diminished, Medicaid is failing the most vulnerable, and Medicare is on an accelerated path to bankruptcy,” said Bucshon. “Republicans in the House don’t think the solution is to go back, so our plan is about more than repealing and replacing ObamaCare. Our plan is a better way forward – a step-by-step approach to build a 21st Century healthcare system that expands patient choice and access, positions the United States as the leader in cutting-edge cures and treatments, and strengthens the Medicaid safety net and Medicare guarantee to seniors. Most importantly, our plan puts patients first.”

BACKGROUND (courtesy Speaker Ryan’s office):

A Better Way to Fix Healthcare includes 48 proposals that expand choices and lower costs, offer real protections and peace of mind, accelerate cutting-edge cures and treatments, and build a stronger Medicare program:

  • More choices and lower costs. Our plan gives you more control and more choices so that you can pick the plan that meets your needs—not Washington’s mandates.
  • Real protections and peace of mind. Our plan makes sure that you never have to worry about being turned away or having your coverage taken away—regardless of age, income, medical conditions, or circumstances.
  • Cutting-edge cures and treatments. Our plan clears out the bureaucracy to accelerate the development of life-saving devices and therapies.
  • A stronger Medicare. Our plan protects Medicare for today’s seniors and preserves the program for future generations.

A Better Way is a bold policy agenda to address some of the country’s biggest challenges. It takes our timeless principles—liberty, free enterprise, consent of the governed—and applies them to the problems of our time. Developed with input from around the country, it starts the debate now on what we can achieve in 2017 and beyond. It is our vision for a Confident America, at home and abroad. Now we are taking these ideas to the people, so you have a clear choice about the direction of the country.
