Hamilton Center gets $1 million for Head Start

Hamilton Center Inc., which has is headquartered in Terre Haute, will receive $1.08 million for its Head Start projects under a new round of grants by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“These hard-earned taxpayer dollars are much-needed resources that will help prepare young Hoosiers for success,” said U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon, R-Newburgh, who announced the grant in a news release Tuesday.

Head Start promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services. Head Start has served over 30 million children and their families in urban and rural areas in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. territories.

Hamilton Center Inc. is a regional, not-for-profit behavioral health system serving central and west central Indiana.
