Dr. Bucshon’s Statement on House Republicans’ Commitment to Defeat the Virus and Keep America Healthy Act

(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement on introduction of the Commitment to Defeat the Virus and Keep America Healthy Act (H.R. 14), introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and House Republican leadership to provide relief to the American people from COVID-19, which includes six bills authored and co-authored by Dr. Bucshon:

“While House Democrats led by Speaker Pelosi have continued to play politics with the livelihoods of Americans with Speaker Pelosi’s my way or the highway approach in negotiating a COVID-19 relief package, House Republicans have been working on solutions to the many challenges COVID-19 has created. This legislation is a comprehensive package that brings together commonsense legislation from both sides of the aisle that has been worked on for almost a year now. Not only will this bill provide needed help, but it will set the stage to be prepared should another pandemic come to our shores.

“I am pleased that this comprehensive bill includes important legislation that I have been working on in a bipartisan manner that incorporates the need for increased rapid testing, access to an affordable COVID-19 vaccine, liability protection for doctors volunteering across state lines, and many other vital reforms needed to address the COVID-19 health crisis and use the lessons learned to be better prepared for a future pandemic. I urge Speaker Pelosi to bring the House of Representatives back to Washington immediately to get this bill passed for the American people.”
