Dr. Bucshon Applauds Passage of the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Reauthorization Act of 2022

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.08) issued the following statement after the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Reauthorization Act of 2022 (H.R. 8876) passed the House of Representatives. This bill, championed by the late Indiana Representative Jackie Walorski, reauthorizes the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV) for five years. This program provides money to states, territories, and tribal governments to support pregnant women and parents of young children who face barriers to achieving positive maternal and child health outcomes.

“Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Reauthorization Act of 2022 to help support pregnant women and parents with young children in at-risk communities. This critical legislation continues Representative Jackie Walorski’s legacy of serving Hoosiers by helping to address maternal mortality rates which are particularly high in Indiana. I am proud to support this bill and pleased that it is one step closer to being signed into law,” said Dr. Bucshon.
