Bucshon Supports Bill to Lower Energy Costs for Hoosiers, Correct the Biden Administration’s Reckless Energy Agenda

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) released the following statement in support of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. This bill passed out of the House of Representatives on a 225-204 vote.

“House Republicans made a Commitment to America that we would end President Biden’s war on American energy and we are demonstrating that today with the passage of H.R. 1. This bill will flip the switch on American energy production, reverse the Biden Administration’s anti-energy policies, and streamline permitting for our energy infrastructure.

“Included in this bill is my Securing America's Critical Minerals Supply Act which will address the broad set of ‘critical energy resources’ needed so we can properly assess our nation’s energy supply, identify critical resources for our economy, and help locate vulnerabilities in our supply chains. This is a small but significant step towards combatting our nation’s energy crisis,” said Dr. Bucshon.

BACKGROUND:

Included in H.R. 1 is Dr. Bucshon’s Securing America’s Critical Mineral Supply Act that will address the broad set of ‘critical energy resources’ to help the Department of Energy properly assess our nation’s energy supply, identify resources that are critical to our economy, locate vulnerabilities in the supply chains of critical energy resources, and determine the extent to which critical energy resources play a role in developing new energy technologies. In a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing earlier this year, Dr. Bucshon highlighted the need for this legislation as a small but significant tool to help secure our nation’s energy needs. He also spoke on the House Floor to urge his colleagues to support this critical legislation.
