Dr. Bucshon Announces Winner of 2023 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition

EVANSVILLE – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) announced the 2023 winners of the Eighth District Congressional Art Competition, which is part of a nationwide visual art competition to recognize the artistic endeavors of high school students. These pieces were chosen among 68 submissions from across Indiana’s Eighth District.  

 

“The annual Congressional Art Competition is a great way to showcase the unique artistic talents of high school students across Indiana’s Eighth District. Each year, I have the pleasure of hosting this competition to help encourage and advance Hoosiers’ artistic endeavors with the chance of having their artwork displayed in Washington, DC. Congratulations to this year’s overall winner, Kori Leverenz and this year’s People’s Choice Award winner Zoe Booth,” said Dr. Bucshon.

 

First Place Overall Winner


 

Bird Dogs” by Kori Leverenz

 

The 2023 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition first place overall winner is Kori Leverenz, with her painting titled “Bird Dogs”. Kori, a student at the Signature School, will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C. for the Congressional Art Competition Reception and will have her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year.

 

People’s Choice Award


Tears on the Red, White, and Blue” by Zoe Booth

 

The 2023 Eighth District People’s Choice Award winner, the piece that garnered the most support on Dr. Bucshon’s social media pages, is “Tears on the Red, White, and Blue” by Zoe Booth. Zoe attends Southridge High School in Huntingburg and had over 200 likes on Congressman Bucshon’s official Facebook page for her submission.
