Bucshon Introduces Bill to Improve Wireless Connectivity in Indiana

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) introduced the Wireless Resiliency and Flexible Investment Act of 2023 to improve and increase wireless connectivity in communities across Indiana and America.

This legislation would codify Federal Communications Commission (FCC) policies intending to streamline the ability of wireless providers to modify their existing wireless facilities and provide backup power or more reliable connection capabilities, including 5G and other next generation technologies, to the communities they serve. To do this, the bill would require state and local governments to approve these applications within 60 days.

“With many communities in my district having limited access to wireless capabilities, I know just how critical it is to help improve cellular service and internet access throughout the state. With society continuing to become more and more interconnected, this bill will help streamline the ability of wireless providers to make needed improvements that would bolster connectivity in Hoosier communities,” said Dr. Bucshon.
