WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN-08) released the following statement on House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ announcement that she will be retiring at the end of the 118th Congress: “The Energy and Commerce Committee has a proud history of taking on the big issues of the day and working in a bipartisan way to advance commonsense solutions that actually address the issues facing hard-working American families and businesses. As Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Cathy McMorris Rodgers has carried on that proud tradition and left her mark on the committee’s record of accomplishment, most notably advancing out of the committee transformative health care transparency legislation to address the high-cost of health care and a game-changing nuclear energy package to help ensure we have access to affordable and reliable energy. Chair Rodgers has also led the committee in laying the groundwork to ensure that America continues to be the world’s innovation leader and is positioned to win the 21st century and beyond, working to develop solutions that address big issues of the day like online privacy and artificial intelligence. The committee, the House, and our nation are a better place because of her leadership and service, and I look forward to continuing to do our work and sprinting thru the tape on behalf of the American people.” Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. represents Indiana’s 8th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives and is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. ### |
