Bucshon on the opioid crisis

He applauded the announcement by IU this week. The school will hire 10 new faculty members and spend $50 million on solutions to the opioid crisis.

Congressman Larry Bucshon testified before the Energy and Commerce Committee this week.

He said the federal government has pledged to fight the opioid epidemic. Over a year ago, a bipartisan effort, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), was signed by the president.

“The part that I did was related to medication assisted treatment and making sure that everyone has access to treatment if they are already addicted,” Bucshon said.

He applauded the announcement by IU this week.  The school will hire 10 new faculty members and spend $50 million on solutions to the opioid crisis.

Bucshon will be taking part in the National Drug Take Back Day on October 28th.  It's an effort to dispose of unwanted medications.
