Dr. Bucshon Supports Trump Administration Rule to Protect Life

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement in support of the Trump Administration’s action to modernize the Title X Family Planning Program and deny taxpayer funding to organizations that provide abortions: “As a physician who operated on babies as young as 22 weeks gestation, I know that these unborn lives are precious. Abortion providers are not health care providers, and it is imperative that taxpayer funding for Title X family planning does not flow to abortion providers. The best way to guarantee this is to draw a bright line both physically and financially between health care facilities providing family planning services offered by Title X grantees and abortion providers.” Background On April 30, 2018, 153 Pro-Life Members, led by Reps. Ron Estes (R-KS), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Diane Black (R-TN), and Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), sent a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requesting new Title X regulations on April 30. HHS also received a similar letter from 41 Senators and a letter from 86 pro-life leaders. |
