Dr. Bucshon Supports Bipartisan Legislation to Increase Liquefied Natural Gas Exports

(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after voting in support of the Ensuring Small Scale LNG Certainty and Access Act (H.R. 4606), which was passed by the House of Representatives:

“The United States has become the world’s leading producer of natural gas, transforming our nation from a net importer of natural gas to a net exporter.  Unfortunately, outdated restrictions have limited the expansion of liquified natural gas (LNG) exports.  The Ensuring Small Scale LNG Certainty and Access Act will allow us to expand U.S. exports of American-produced natural gas and more fully take advantage of the abundant supply of natural gas in our country – while also preserving existing environmental reviews mandated in law – to strengthen our presence in the global energy community and to create thousands of American jobs here at home.”

Background

The Ensuring Small Scale LNG Certainty and Access Act would create an expedited permitting process for small-scale shipments of liquefied natural gas to open new markets for American LNG exports in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, creating more open, transparent, and competitive markets.
