Dr. Bucshon Statement on Keystone XL Pipeline Project
Washington, DC,
February 11, 2015
Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline project as amended and passed by the U.S. Senate. Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after voting again to approve the pro-energy, pro-jobs, and pro-national security project: “The State Department’s own report confirms that construction of the Keystone XL pipeline will create over 40,000 American jobs and have minimal impact on the environment,” said Bucshon. “This project is a no-brainer. Over 60 percent of the American people, industry leaders, and union workers support the project. It’s been properly vetted over 6 years and thousands of pages of review by the State Department. It’s passed both chambers of Congress with the support of Democrats and Republicans. The President is the only obstacle in the way of the good-paying jobs and energy security this project will support. I sincerely hope the President reconsiders his ideological position and signs this bill into law.” Congressman Larry Bucshon, a physician from Southern Indiana, is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 114th Congress, Bucshon will serve on the influential House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The 8th District of Indiana includes all or parts of Clay, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Greene, Knox, Martin, Owen, Parke, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Sullivan, Vanderburgh, Vermillion, Vigo, and Warrick counties. |
