Dr. Bucshon Brings Terre Haute Startup to IoT Showcase in Washington, D.C.

Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. recently welcomed BoxUp, a startup company based out of Terre Haute, to Washington, D.C. to showcase their innovative work in the latest technology wave known as the Internet of Things (IoT).

Bucshon invited the company to participate in an IoT Showcase, hosted by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where startups from around the country displayed how this cutting-edge technology is changing the way they do business.

“The internet of things has opened limitless possibilities for entrepreneurs to turn an idea into a successful business. It’s truly revolutionizing our nation’s economy,” said Bucshon. “I’m happy to bring BoxUp from Terre Haute to Washington, D.C. to showcase the great things being done in the Hoosiers state.”

“We were thrilled to be a part of this IoT Showcase. It's no secret that technology is transforming American manufacturing,” said BoxUp CEO Curt Stephens. “BoxUp is pleased that the House Committee on Energy and Commerce is looking carefully at the impact IoT has on manufacturing in our country.

The Internet of Things, a hot topic in the world of technology, refers to the interconnectivity of devices – smart phones, vehicles, even kitchen appliances - made possible by access to high-speed broadband internet expanding and improving across the country.

“The technology is advancing very quickly,” Bucshon said of the IoT. “The technology is improving almost daily and it’s just going to be a better consumer experience: more efficient, more effective, and a better way to do business.”

BoxUp uses this technology to defy the traditional packaging industry model, combining user-friendly graphic design tools and direct-to-digital printing to provide customers with high-quality custom printed boxes at an affordable price.

“The IoT affects all American citizens, we especially applaud Congressman Bucshon’s work to improve broadband access for the 2 million Indiana citizens that have limited or no access to broadband providers,” said Stephens. “For a startup from the 8th District of Indiana, it’s not always thought of as a hotbed of high-tech industry. We’re just glad to have the opportunity to show everybody that the Midwest has some exciting things going on as well.”

Today the stay-at-home economy and the emergence of the solopreneur are fueling BoxUp’s growth. Industry veterans Curt Stephens and Ward Hubbard founded the company in 2015 and are headquartered in Terre Haute, Indiana. For more information visit www.boxup.com.
