Today, U.S.Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation (SGRLAA) Act (H.R. 3935), which reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration and aviation safety and infrastructure programs for the next five years, by a bipartisan vote of 351-69:
“Hoosiers rely on a safe and efficient aviation system every day for activities ranging from regular business operations to family travel, with the aviation industry alone supporting more than 75,000 jobs in our state. The Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act will ensure that the United States maintains our role as the aviation innovation and safety leader by making the FAA more efficient and cutting unnecessary government red tape, paving the way for the safe adoption of new and innovative technologies, and working to address growing workforce shortages. Through the modernization and advancement of our airports and air traffic control system, we can ensure that Hoosier communities remain connected to the rest of the world and that we improve the experiences of passengers – all while continuing to put safety first,” said Dr. Bucshon.
The SGRLAA Act is a five-year bill to reauthorize the programs of the FAA, provide stability for and ensure the feasibility of the nation’s aviation community, invest in in both Commercial Service and General Aviation airports across the nation, and protect public safety.
