USDA Invests in Water and Wastewater Infrastructure in West Terre Haute


(Washington, D.C.) –
Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement to announce that West Terre Haute, Indiana will be receiving federal funds to bolster infrastructure as part of the USDA Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program in rural areas:

“I am pleased to announce that the city of West Terre Haute, Indiana will be receiving both a loan and a grant to update water infrastructure as part of a large scale program by the USDA to improve rural communities across the nation. Access to reliable, clean water in our rural communities ensures safe and plentiful water supplies and supports economic development. Investments like these are important to the quality of life across Southwest Indiana and I look forward to seeing this project progress.”

 

Background

The town of West Terre Haute will receive $237,000 in loans and $540,500 in grants as part of $82 million investment in 20 states by the USDA in water and wastewater infrastructure in across rural America.

This Rural Development (RD) investment will be used to provide additional funds to upgrade meters, lines and mains. Additional federal assistance includes $4 million in RD grants and an $83,500 applicant contribution.
