WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.) released the following statement after voting against the INVEST in America Act, which is a highly-partisan “infrastructure” package. This bill passed the House of Representatives on a vote of 221-201. “There is bipartisan consensus that the federal government needs to make smart, responsible investments that ensure America’s critical infrastructure like roads, bridges, and railways continue to support our country’s needs. However, the $715 billion proposal that House Democrats have put forward is completely partisan and contains more than $276 billion in Green New Deal mandates and programs instead of actual infrastructure priorities,” said Rep. Bucshon. “I voted against this partisan package put forward by Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats, and will continue to support legislation like the STARTER 2.0 Act that will actually modernize and improve our nation’s infrastructure for Hoosiers.” |
