(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement condemning the Biden Administration’s action to place a moratorium on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters:

“I am deeply troubled by the Biden Administration’s actions today that will impact thousands of hardworking Americans and Hoosiers whose paychecks rely on affordable energy that is produced by the oil and gas industry here in the U.S. As our economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, the success of this recovery requires that we continue building upon America’s energy independence and dominance gained in the previous four years. This action today puts a halt to that dominating growth. Now is not the time to put in place overburdensome regulations that will have a direct negative impact on jobs. We need to remain steadfast in pursuing an all-of-the-above energy approach that drives economic growth and innovative technology to deliver a clean energy future – not more Washington rules and red tape.”
