On Tuesday, Dr. Bucshon voted to protect our nation’s veterans and open our national parks and museums; however, House Democrats prevented passage of these responsible bills. Rep. Bucshon released the following statement: “My constituents have made it clear that if big businesses get a break from the harmful effects of ObamaCare then they should too. The House Republicans are working to make sure everyone is treated fairly under ObamaCare and to find common ground between both parties to keep the doors of the government open. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for Senate Democrats to meet us at the negotiating table. “The House has already made sure that military personnel receive their paychecks as the Senate and President continue to force a shutdown. However, tonight the Democrats continued their ‘my way or the highway’ mantra by putting politics over the well-being of our nation’s veterans and opening our parks and museums. It’s appalling the length that President Obama and his Democrat allies will go to protect their unaffordable, unfair, and unpopular healthcare law. Earlier today, Bucshon sent a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer of the House requesting that his pay be withheld until an agreement is reached is the government is opened. Read the letter here. H.J.Res 70, 71, and 72 were considered under suspension of the rules, which requires two-thirds approval for passage. |
