Dr. Bucshon on passage of Sleep Apnea Bill

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R. 3095, a bipartisan bill authored by Rep. Larry Bucshon (IN-8) to require due process on a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration guidance and save America’s trucking industry $1 billion dollars. The bill passed 405 to 0.

Bucshon released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 3095:

“If FMSCA wants to weigh in on sleep apnea, then they should go through the proper, transparent rule making process,” said Bucshon. “With such tremendous potential costs to the truck and bus industry, it is critical that we include all the stakeholders, including medical professionals and the trucking community, in any thorough analysis of fatigue-related crashes. I am pleased that the House passed H.R. 3095 with overwhelming support and I look forward to the Senate continuing this effort.”

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unanimously passed H.R. 3095 on 9/18/2013.

Yesterday, POLITICO referred to Bucshon’s bill as a show case for “…what just might be the most efficient Congress has been in years.” (POLITICO; 9/24/2013)
