(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Act (H.R. 4): “This long-term FAA reauthorization makes much needed reforms and investments in our nation’s aviation infrastructure. Through the modernization and advancement of our airports and air traffic control system, we can strengthen our transportation networks and connect communities, cut red tape for job creators, and put the safety and security of passengers first. Additionally, H.R. 4 empowers communities to build stronger and smarter infrastructure that is resilient to hurricanes, wildfires, floods, earthquakes and other disasters. By implementing reforms to FEMA, we can save lives and taxpayer dollars.” The FAA Reauthorization Act is a five-year bill to reauthorize the programs of the FAA, provide stability for the nation’s aviation community, invest in in airports across the nation, and ensure public safety. Additionally, the bill includes the text of the Disaster Recovery Reform Act, which expands and reforms the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), focusing on making community infrastructure more resilient during disasters. |
