One of the most high profile companies in the world was in Evansville on Monday to spark some interest in kids in joining the ever-expanding tech industry.

Representatives from Google took the C.S. First Road Show to Tekoppel Elementary School to teach students about the basics of coding.

Google says there are more than 500,000 open computer science jobs in the country, and the company expects that number to double in the next 10 years. But Google says there currently aren't enough people showing interest to fill all the needed positions.

Indiana 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon was also in attendance and echoed what the company had to say about the importance of computer science.

"Before you know it, these kids will be in college," said Bucshon, "and they have to make decisions about what they're going to study, and we need more people in stem fields."

Bucshon says he was incredibly impressed by what the Tekoppel students were able to absorb and display in such a short time.
