(Evansville, IN) – Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) released the following statement in regards to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to stop the deportation of illegal immigrants. Congressman Bucshon (IN-08) states: “This is another example of a rogue agency in the Obama Administration. Their outright refusal to uphold and enforce our nation’s laws is absolutely wrong and very troubling. Yesterday, when the Department of Homeland Security announced they would no longer deport illegal immigrants, the Obama Administration made their most public attempt to circumvent Congress and grant backdoor amnesty to people that enter our country illegally and take jobs from hardworking Americans. I am disappointed that the Obama Administration would allow short-term political gain to undermine the commitment to securing our borders. This year, we have already seen the Justice Department (DOJ) refuse to uphold current law by no longer defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court and we still don’t know the full extent of their involvement with operation ‘Fast and Furious’ that knowingly put guns in the hands of criminals. The Obama Administration should be enforcing our nation’s laws, not proactively seeking ways to ignore them for political benefit.” ## |
